4th Grade Andy Warhol Blotted Line Drawings

I was inspired to do this lesson after an inservice at another teacher's classroom. I was already teaching Warhol but now I had a focus. It is his Blotted Line Drawings. We painting the neon paint in the background first. Then we drew the animal with pencil. After that we painted over the sketch with ink. While the ink was still wet, we pressed (blotted) another piece of paper on top!

Pop heARTS

Oil Pastels then a color wash of the complement on top! We talked about Jim Dine, Andy Warhol, Shade, Tint and Pop Art!

4th Grade Perspective

This lesson was absolutely painful at first... Rulers, measurements and lots of tears!!!! So I stopped in the middle of class made the students put everything away listen to the book Ish.

This a wonderfully awesome book that shows the children that for goodness sake it is allowed to look vase-ish, flower-ish, sun-ish and that there should be NO TEARS when creating art!!!

After we got the measuring done the project went much smoother and I have to say the kids enjoyed it too. They loved that it looked like the shapes were being "sucked into space".

4th Grade- Klimt Quilts

In this lesson students studied the artist Gustav Klimt particularly his painting Baby. In this lesson students drew the quilt out of organic (free form) shapes and made patterns inside the quilt using examples of geometric shapes. Materials the students used were makers and water colors. I hope you enjoy all the bright colors and patterns!
